Working with Applied Image, we contributed to the development of “NIST Special Publication 500-290 Rev1 (2013)” . We also participated in the NIST Tattoo Recognition challenge where we analyzed datasets of tattoo images for a number of matching metrics. We presented recommendations for capture image quality at the NIST Tattoo Recognition workshop and will be participating in subsequent versions of these biometric standards.
We have worked extensively with Windsor to develop a system to establish and quantify image quality requirements for their assembly process. The Dust Analyzer was designed to remove ambiguity from the acceptance criteria and to reduce the reject rate from the end customer.
We have collaborated with Optimation to design, calibrate and install laser-based measurement equipment for a large manufacturing company. The equipment was successfully installed in a production environment to monitor critical thickness parameters. (note: description intentionally vague)
We worked closely with QVI to establish camera acceptability standards which could then be communicated to camera vendors. Separate program versions (engineering and deployment) were developed to allow engineers more visibility to settings and specifications than operators at OEM vendors.
We worked with engineers at FLIR to develop methods of measuring color accuracy for different color spaces and to generate color transformation matrices to meet the aim values. ColorChecker CLS™ and ColorChecker SG™ software packages were utilized in the process.
We developed a Scallop Measurement system for the Northeast Fisheries Science Center in Woods Hole, Mass. The system was provided to determine if measurement accuracy and speed could be improved using a machine vision system in place of human inspectors. [Click for more information]
Working with Image Science Associates, we developed the Digital Image Conformance Evaluation (DICE) system which evolved into GoldenThread. The product has been used extensively by the LoC to set up scanners for digital archiving.
