Machine Vision Design
“If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, you don’t know what you’re doing” – W. Edwards Deming
1 – System Requirements
Our first step is to determine the basic system requirements, including:
- Image resolution and the camera Field-of-View
- Camera Frame rate
- PC-based or PLC-based application
- Environmental conditions
- Product transportation
- Operator Workflow
2 – Design Review
Our second step is to present a thorough design review, including:
- Capture equipment (camera, optics and lighting)
- Computer equipment
- Conveyor equipment
- User interface prototype
- Algorithm review
- Cost estimate
- Schedule estimate
- Test plan established for lab build
3 – Build & Test
Our third step is to build and test the product in a lab environment:
- Verify design specifications
- Perform test plan
- Introduce noise factors
- Complete user interface
- Verify saved data
- Agree on deployment
