Machine Vision Design

“If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, you don’t know what you’re doing” – W. Edwards Deming

1 – System Requirements

Our first step is to determine the basic system requirements, including:

  • Image resolution and the camera Field-of-View
  • Camera Frame rate
  • PC-based or PLC-based application
  • Environmental conditions
  • Product transportation
  • Operator Workflow

2 – Design Review

Our second step is to present a thorough design review, including:

  • Capture equipment (camera, optics and lighting)
  • Computer equipment
  • Conveyor equipment
  • User interface prototype
  • Algorithm review
  • Cost estimate
  • Schedule estimate
  • Test plan established for lab build

3 – Build & Test

Our third step is to build and test the product in a lab environment:

  • Verify design specifications
  • Perform test plan
  • Introduce noise factors
  • Complete user interface
  • Verify saved data
  • Agree on deployment
